First full non-UK member of the Security in Complex Environments Group (SCEG)
On Tuesday the 7th of June ESS&SA has officially been accepted as the first non UK member to the Security in Complex Environments Group (SCEG).
SCEG was established in 2011 and has been working to raise standards and regulation for the private security sector operating in complex environments, on both the land and maritime domain. It is a membership organization that acts on behalf of its members to encourage the adoption of appropriate international standards and regulations. As a result, SCEG has always expected high standards from its members and expects them to be fully compliant with international and national legislation, including trade laws and licenses. Furthermore, SCEG strongly advocates that private security companies have accredited certifications against appropriate international standards, such as the ISO 28007 for private maritime security companies.
Permanent Luxembourg Flagstate Endorsement
ESS&SA has been endorsed by the Commisariat aux affaires maritimes (CAM, freely translated Comission for Martime Affairs) to operate on Luxembourg flagged vessels from the 11th of October 2013 onwards.
Permanent Croatian Flag State Approval
Since August 2013 ESS&SA has obtained the Permit for embarkation of privately contracted armed security personnel on board Croatian flag ships as issued by the Croatian Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure.
With this Permit ESS&SA is able to protect the Croatian fleet against maritime piracy with armed and unarmed teams. This Permit is the second flag state approval for ESS&SA based within the European Union. ESS&SA expects to acquire the German flag accreditation before the end of 2013, which would make ESS&SA operable on a grand spectrum of EU flagged vessels.
Permanent Italian Flag State Approval
ESS&SA has been accredited to deploy armed private maritime security teams on Italian flagged vessels. ESS&SA is one of the very few private maritime security companies worldwide to have obtained this certificate. ESS&SA is always dedicated to promote and abide by the important accreditations of flag States, as to keep protecting the world’s merchant fleet and its seafarers against maritime piracy.
Permanent Panama Flag State Approval
Since the 2nd of October 2012 the Panamanian Maritime Authority approved ESS&SA to protect Panamanian flagged vessels against piracy in and around the High Risk Area. As ESS&SA abides by applicable law, is a member of overarching bodies, is properly insured, contracts solely competent employees and Security Operators and only makes use of own and highly qualitative security material, ESS&SA has been accredited as one of the few PMSCs worldwide by the large flag State of Panama.
SAMI Stage 1 Accredited
Security Association for the Maritime Industry (SAMI) was an international organisation representing companies working in maritime security and related industries. ESS&SA has successfully passed Stage 1 out of the three stages of SAMI Standard Private Maritime Security Company (PMSC) Certification Programme. SAMI has introduced this Programme to ensure that the maritime industry can easily identify reputable PMSCs.
ESS&SA is BIMCO GUARDCON compliant. The BIMCO GUARDCON contract is a contractual benchmark for the employment of security services so that minimum levels of insurance cover for PMSCs are established and that adequate safeguards are put in place to ensure that liabilities and responsibilities are properly addressed and that all necessary permits and licenses are obtained.
